Students, Colleagues, Friends of DAS,
As the Winter Solstice arrives, we mark the end of another productive semester, overflowing with shared accomplishments, creative growth, and exciting adventures. I extend my sincere congratulations and gratitude to everyone for the care and dedication you each bring to making DAS a positively transformative place of discovery and innovation - where ideas are tested, and ambitious plans are imagined and advanced.
I am so proud and inspired by our students’ work, which I had the pleasure of seeing in the end-of-term presentations. Students - you are the future of the profession! - poised to make built environments more sustainable, joyful and just.
Faculty - your guidance and expertise are shining through the student accomplishments - and also with a festive array of research posters enlivening our corridors.
Staff - thank you for all you do to make this place of learning thrive.
To the hundreds of professionals, guests and advisory members who contribute to our programs - THANK YOU! Your insights and example of leadership are invigorating.
This has been a busy year: from manifesting a new student lounge, to successfully completing four major program reports that celebrate our Department’s uniqueness and mobilize plans for continual enhancement. Together we are co-creating a space of inclusive excellence and meaningful impact.
May we all find joy and peace in this holiday season and return with renewed desire to learn and grow together.
As a reminder, the DAS office closes on the afternoon of December 19, 2025 and reopens the morning of January 5, 2026 - just in time for the launch of the four-day Collaborative Exercise, with the 2026 theme: Radical Hospitality. Don’t miss this exciting all-school charrette. Regular classes commence Friday, January 9th.
I look forward to seeing you all refreshed and re-energized in the new year!
Warmest Wishes,
Lisa Landrum
